Of course he’s here! It’s ARG, who cares that he doesn’t actually have a show to do! It’s always fun seeing Nish do some new stuff - I really love the tightly written and honed stuff, always have after nearly a decade of ARGs, but he’s developed a certain vitality in going off the cuff, having a lot of fun with some of the sentences that are inevitably going to be captured by the live captioning, watching a career disintegrate before him. A lot of this is state of the nation stuff - why not, having not been really doing much since the Truss and Sunak days, even Boris still getting a look in. He’s very good at this - it’s a strong voice, he’s able to tread carefully around sheer polemic. We settle into him thinking about other subjects too, with a closing highlight of the time he and Josh Widdicombe tried to doorstep Boris Johnson and what happened next. I shan’t go into further detail, because that’s going to be one hell of a routine when it’s finished. Not that I wasn’t before this, but I’m looking forward to whatever final form this show takes, if, indeed, any really.
