Back again, huh? I’d bought tickets for Alasdair and me the moment they went on sale, but then Maddie asked if I’d like to go, and who am I to say no to seeing Acaster twice. He’s good, y’know? So with Maddie, Rav, and Lewis, I return two nights later to the Old Vic to see what I might get. As discussed, this was a more “written” show than I’d expected, so it made more sense before in my head that I’d go twice. But it was fascinating to get a better view into which bits would vary from night to night, which bits remained constant, and just being able to fully appreciate the craft of it, knowing what was being threaded through and catching the things I might have missed. It was interesting to see some of the improvised things from Sunday that we’d talked about after had made it back in, but most hadn’t. This time, the drum kit had actually arrived, which did add a different energy to the beginning of each half - I do think I preferred it without, but who am I to tell him he’s wrong. I’m so excited to see the filmed thing, probably having seen it in person again at least once before then to be fair.
