How lucky I am to be owed a favour by Mark Olver. Arriving at Pinewood nice and early and shovelled into the holding pen, Clo and I barely suppress our pleasure at people glaring at us as we and our other silver wristband-ed brethren are summoned through before the masses. We get to sit on the front row of the balcony, a perfect view of the proceedings. It’s been a long while since I’ve been to a TV taping (Penn & Teller: Fool Us, way back in the day), so I’d forgotten on a gut level how it would take near enough four hours to get 47 minutes of usable footage on TV. But what a delight. And to see Olver in his element, doing his proper job as a warm up act, is incredible, as he seamlessly keeps us all ticking over in the breaks. Greg Davies delights in entertaining the crowd. Alex Horne is inevitably more distracted by keeping the wheels on. I obviously cannot discuss the contestants, but there’s going to be some amazing stuff out of this series. We saw a team task and a location task, both great fun, and the live task is going to be an editor’s nightmare. I’m still not sure how who won won. I probably won’t update this once it’s announced, so here’s the memory as is.
