Since I started getting into the local comedy scene, Jeremy has been one of my absolute favourite comics, on and off the stage. He’s just so good, so naturally funny. And for him to be filming his first special, The Buffet, is such a source of delight for me. Alasdair and I make sure to be on the front row, next to an audience mic, giving some good laughter. Other favourites Julia Stenton and Louise Leigh get the crowd warmed up, and then the man himself, doing 60 minutes of some of the funniest material he has. A lot of his classics are there, a few sadly missing, but hey, got to keep some live tracks unreleased, eh? There a moments where I’m unable to stop laughing at even the gentles, most tentative of mimes, it’s astonishing. The lighting set up is perfect, the audience are going for it, and I cannot wait for it to be finished and to see the final product. Alasdair ends up roped into some crowd work, accidentally laughing too hard in a confirmatory manner about the exact barbers that Jez is talking about in one routine. I can only hope that makes the final cut.
