Café Ca's Capella

Alcudia, 2023-09-14

This was not a fun day for me, for various reasons, and by the late afternoon I figured I should really leave the villa and/or eat some food at some point that day. I was unsure whether I was going for one or both, and prevaricated until deciding I had to decide, and ending up at Café Ca’s Capella, one of the many places of this ilk on that stretch of the town. I picked it pretty much exclusively on the fact I could see another customer sitting outside with a slice of chocolate cake and that felt like the deal. It was the kind of chocolate cake that you just kind of find on holidays, where it doesn’t feel particularly artificial but nor does it feel particularly home made. It is served with a whipped cream that is recognisable but yet unfamiliar. It tastes nice and a little bit of jam, even though there definitely isn’t actually any jam in there. It’s a confusing thing. It’s tasty enough, and I am joined by a loud elderly scouse couple who could find no other table, and the waiter definitely assumes that I am their (grand?)son. I am tempted to play along to leave them with the bill.
